The University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse - Concierge to be available onsite to support various satellite locations. This position delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring population-specific patient care. The incumbent oversees nurses and allied health staff in their daily practice. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Valid State of Florida RN license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses assigned patients and evaluates plans to include documentation of nursing care, and reports symptoms and changes in patients’ condition and vital signs.
  • Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses, conditions and physician orders.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and reports diagnostic tests to assess patient’s condition.
  • Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals related to assigned patients to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Prepares patients for, and assists with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Considers patient age and culture during patient treatments and provides any needed information regarding treatment plan.
  • Nurtures a compassionate environment by providing psychological support.
  • Performs appropriate patient tests and safely administers medications within the scope of practice.
  • Administers and maintains accurate records related to medications and treatments as per regulatory bodies, policies, procedures and physician orders.
  • Communicates plan of care in a timely manner to patient and family, as well as the appropriate team members, ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines (i.e., HIPAA).
  • Uses available resources to assist in discharge planning.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and adjusts assignments to accomplish goals and render superior patient care; seeks assistance when needed.
  • Safely operates medical equipment. Serves as a preceptor and assists new staff in the provision of care in order to help them acclimate to the healthcare environment, and a direct patient care role.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Supports Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) within the Hight Priority Patient Program with intake of new patients, registration, confirming insurance coverage, medical record collection, and follow-up.
  • Be available to be onsite at various satellite locations to support new/follow-up patient visits and provide concierge support.
  • Flags patients are appropriate for SCCC Friends & Family or Pap Corps.
  • Reviews daily HPP report with Advanced Practice Provider (APP) and contact patients in advance of their appointment to confirm logistics and assure insurance is authorized and/or referral information in their chart.
  • Coordinates care for all patients flagged.
  • Executes and completes orders placed by APPs and/or care team when needed
  • Maintain contact list of team members that support care coordination of HPPs
  • Discusses with the APP cases for higher level clinical support as needed.
  • Contacts established patients for follow-up.
  • Refers to financial counselors, social work, or cancer supportive care when indicated and to reduce barriers to care
  • Collaborate with the International Department on out-of-country patients requiring care.
  • Performs courtesy visits to patients at Sylvester, Tower, or UM satellites.
  • On-call during weekdays and weekends on a rotation basis.
  • Troubleshoots insurance and financial concerns with the care team (CIV, utilization review, and CBO)
  • Participates in quality improvement projects/initiatives and team meetings.
  • Attend community/donor events as requested.
  • Support the Patient and Family Advisory Committee when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned that support the team in the care of cancer patients that is within the scope of the nursing role.
