Properly assist with/administer scheduled medications to residents in accordance with state regulations and residence policy. Provide personalized care and services to residents, uphold the residence policies and procedures, and ensure the residents' rights to safe, prompt, and confidential treatment. Serve with Integrity. You'll ensure that medications and treatments are administered safely, accurately, and compassionately, helping residents maintain their health and well-being while honoring their choices and stories. Requirements

  • A dependable, compassionate professional with a passion for senior care
  • Certified or registered to assist with medication administration per state requirements
  • Detail-oriented and committed to safety and accuracy in all documentation
  • A team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to lift, bend, and assist residents using proper body mechanics
  • Must pass background checks and meet all applicable state standards
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in assisted living, home health, or similar care settings (preferred but not required)
  • Experience in the caregiving to older adults preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follow the six rights of medication administration-right resident, right drug, right dosage, right time, right route, and right documentation-every single time.
  • Verify the six rights three times: when removing the medication, immediately before administration, and immediately after.
  • Administer or assist with medications according to each resident's Medication Administration Record (MAR) while maintaining confidentiality and resident dignity.
  • Document all medication actions clearly and accurately, including doses given, held, refused, or discontinued.
  • Maintain a clean, organized medication cart/cabinet and ensure it is stocked as needed.
  • Provide resident treatments and follow individual service plans as directed.
  • Report any medication errors or concerns honestly and immediately in accordance with policy.
  • Deliver compassionate, individualized care aligned with Legacy's philosophy and resident rights.
  • Support residents' physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
  • Promote resident independence while ensuring safety and respect for personal choice.
  • Explain each medication and its purpose to residents before administration.
  • Observe and promptly report any adverse reactions or changes in condition to the Wellness Nurse or supervisor.
  • Adhere to infection control and OSHA regulations, including safe waste disposal.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to resident calls and emergencies.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, and team members.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Communicate changes in residents' conditions, medication refusals, or concerns to the Wellness Nurse promptly.
  • Collaborate with the care team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Seek guidance from supervisors or licensed staff whenever questions arise about medications or treatments.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communications.
