About The Position

The Registered Dietitian is responsible for implementation of medical weight loss program and all aspects that address objectives of the program and the customer. This position requires a committed individual who demonstrates a systems approach to management. This individual will translate business knowledge into behaviors that produce high quality, cost-effective outcomes. This individual is able to apply program evaluation and accepted clinical research findings to secure clinical and program outcomes. He/she will build strong customer relationships, actively explore customer needs, and pursue creative solutions to satisfy those needs and monitor results on a continual basis.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of specific nutritional issues, including but not limited to; weight management, eating disorders, food allergies, and cardiac health.
  • Experience in leading groups and facilitating group interactions; skillful in public speaking with the ability to provide information in a dynamic, interesting manner.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in individual counseling and assessments necessary for weight management programming and treatment of the overweight and obese population.
  • Evidence of continuing education in the dietetics field to maintain any current certification/registration and/or licensure status.
  • Must have current CPR certification.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills towards diverse patient population.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills, decision making skills, and ability to problem solve.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection control standards and EOC standards.
  • Strong organization skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Must abide by HIPAA law and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Electronic Medical Records.
  • Pleasant, caring and professional personality.
  • Availability and flexibility to work at remote sites.
  • 2-3 years of experience in medical practice, hospital, or clinic setting.
  • Registered Dietitian in the State of Maryland

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and training in eating disorders and compulsive behaviors preferred.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and delivering education materials using adult learning theories.
  • Certification in Obesity Medicine preferred.
  • Bariatric nutrition, weight management, diabetes education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works with providers and staff to achieve program objectives and enhance clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Prepares for classes on weight loss, cooking or other nutritional topics by selecting appropriate class topics and educational materials such as; power point presentations, interactive handouts and visual learning techniques.
  • Arrives in a timely manner prior to education session to ensure proper set-up and punctual start.
  • Ensures that class materials are sufficiently stocked and organized.
  • Instructs session using approved curriculum and provides appropriate, specific, behavioral life-style change tools for participants.
  • Allows adequate time for in education session for discussion, practice, and evaluation.
  • Encourages participants in education/support groups to discuss information relevant to topic and keeps classes positive and solution focused.
  • Performs a nutritional screening to identify clients with specific nutritional needs.
  • Assesses patient’s readiness and commitment to participate in any weight management group program.
  • Reviews patient’s medical record and nutrition/medical history prior to consult to familiarize themselves with patient’s progress, concerns and other medical professional recommendations/notations.
  • Assists in updating assessment/interview forms/tools to stay consistent with industry trends and research.
  • Documents appropriately and timely according to organization policy.
  • Performs individual consults to identify client’s goals to make nutritional counseling conducive to weight-loss/weight maintenance/other specific nutritional needs.
  • Assists in research, selection, and development of new programs/classes and instructional materials to be used.
  • Serves as an expert resource in the nutrition science field especially as it relates to the treatment of obesity.
  • Assumes responsibility for continuing education, development needs, interviewing/assessment skills and maintaining adult teaching skills.
  • Assists with the medical monitoring of the program, including blood pressure measurement and weigh-ins.
  • Assists with administrative and program supervision duties as required/assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
