About The Position

Join our specialized team at the University of Florida Department of Pediatrics, Division of Genetics and Metabolism as a Staff Full-Time Dietitian II, where you'll become an essential part of life-changing care for patients with genetic metabolic disorders. Based on our Main Campus in Gainesville, FL, you'll work at the intersection of nutrition science and genetic medicine, providing critical support from newborn screening through lifelong care management. What You'll Do Provide specialized nutrition therapy for genetic metabolic patients in clinic and hospital settings (30%) Review medical records and make nutrition therapy recommendations to MD geneticists Coordinate with physicians and genetic counselors to arrange laboratory testing and patient care Assist with Newborn Screening Program referrals and track cases for quarterly reporting (20%) Manage food pantry inventory and coordinate with state contracts Advocate for patients by developing medical necessity letters and coordinating medical food prescriptions (20%) Oversee nutrition services within the Pediatric Genetics program (10%) Educate medical students, residents, and nurses while serving as a clinical preceptor (10%) Participate in research related to metabolic genetic disorders (10%) Provide 24/7 on-call services in partnership with team dietitians What We're Looking For Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Florida licensure as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist or ability to obtain Clinical nutrition experience, preferably in pediatrics or genetics Strong organizational skills for case tracking and reporting Excellent communication abilities for patient advocacy and education Comfort with basic clinical procedures and laboratory coordination Why Choose UF Health This unique position offers the opportunity to specialize in a rare and impactful field while contributing to research that advances patient care. Requirements

  • Must meet the requirements of Chapter 468, Florida Statutes, and have one year of appropriate experience.
  • Licensed as a Dietitian in accordance with Chapter 468, Florida Statutes.
  • Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
  • Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Florida licensure as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist or ability to obtain
  • Clinical nutrition experience, preferably in pediatrics or genetics
  • Strong organizational skills for case tracking and reporting
  • Excellent communication abilities for patient advocacy and education
  • Comfort with basic clinical procedures and laboratory coordination

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree and two years of appropriate experience in nutrition or public health.
  • Experience providing clinical nutrition care to pediatric patients.
