About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo (UB), and the Oishei Children’s Hospital of Buffalo ( OCH ) is seeking candidates for the position of Chief of the Division of Genetics. This faculty position will provide leadership to the physicians and staff in the division to further develop the inpatient and outpatient clinical operations and scholarship efforts. The incoming Division Chief will: Recruit and mentor academically outstanding faculty members; Grow multidisciplinary clinical programs; Oversee the education of medical students and residents in Genetics; Expand research activities and participate in collaborative research projects within the division and with other departments or institutions; Engage in scholarly research initiatives and activities, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance patient care related to general genetics/dysmorphology and metabolism; Participate in Department of Pediatrics Division Chiefs and Department Faculty meetings; Serve as a resource for colleagues, medical staff, and healthcare professionals in matters related to pediatric genetics. The Division of Genetics runs an active outpatient clinic with a diverse patient population. Our providers also support the pediatric inpatient units, Maternal Fetal Medicine Center, Great Lakes Cancer Care, and several multidisciplinary clinics at OCH . The division will be the primary training site for a newly approved genetic counseling master’s program at JSMBS . We are also part of the Regional New York State Newborn Screening Center ( NBS ) in Buffalo, New York. The Division includes one BC MD and six genetic counselors. UBMD Pediatrics is one of 18 practice plans within UBMD Physicians’ Group, the single largest medical group in Western New York. We provide premier health care to infants, children, adolescents and adults. In addition to primary care pediatrics, we have 17 pediatric subspecialties. Our physicians make up the academic teaching faculty within the Department of Pediatrics at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Buffalo and at Oishei Children’s Hospital. Requirements

  • MD, MD/PhD or equivalent degree
  • Board certified in Pediatrics and Medical Genetics by ABMGG
