About The Position

The Registered Dietitian will serve as the Community Research RD, delivering nutrition care within a groundbreaking national study designed to improve continuity of nutrition care between hospitals and home-delivered meal providers in this partnership between Mom’s Meals and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This is a remote/hybrid role which requires travel in the Chicago area. The candidate should be local to the Chicago, IL area. This RD may select to work additional remote hours as a Mom’s Meals Nutrition Educator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
  • State licensure as required (IL)
  • Experience providing MNT in outpatient, community, or home-based settings
  • Strong skills in communication (in-person and virtual), organization, and follow-through
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience navigating electronic health records (EIPC preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and manage field-based caseload
  • Reliable transportation for home visits (mileage reimbursed)

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in nutrition or related field
  • Minimum 1-2 years' clinical nutrition and /or research experience
  • Previous experience with human subjects research, Good Clinical Practice, or multi-site study operations
  • Experience working with older adults, malnutrition screening, or medically tailored meal programs
  • Familiarity with ANDHII or clinical informatics platforms

Responsibilities

  • Conduct three MNT visits over a 3-month period for each enrolled participant (home or clinic)
  • Use the Academy’s health informatics platform ANDHII to review referrals and enter study-required nutrition documentation
  • Conduct study-related data collection, quality-of-life assessments, and participant follow-up
  • Collaborate with Mom’s Meals Nutrition Counseling to support seamless enrollment into home-delivered meal programs
  • Ensure adherence to research ethics, protocol requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • Provide telephonic nutrition education to members with chronic conditions (diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, etc.)
  • Document goals, care plans, and follow-up in the designated platform
  • Use motivational interviewing to support member-led behavior change
  • Identify community resources and coordinate referrals as needed
  • Maintain competency through professional development and internal training
