Summit County Public Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Dietetic Technician to work full-time (35 hours per week), Monday through Friday, in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. The Dietetic Technician plays a vital role in improving the nutritional health of individuals and families in our community. This position works under the supervision of a registered and licensed Dietitian to provide nutrition education, client support, and community referrals in alignment with WIC program policies. This is an impactful role for professionals committed to enhancing public health through nutrition and wellness strategies, breastfeeding education, and proactive community engagement.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a dietetic technician program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Registered as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Valid Ohio driver's license, automobile availability, and insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intake, schedule appointments, and greet clients to ensure an efficient clinic flow.
  • Explain the WIC Program, rights, and responsibilities to participants during certification and recertification appointments.
  • Determine eligibility of clients through health and nutrition screening, including performing height, weight, and hemoglobin measurements.
  • Identify and document nutrition risks in low-risk clients and provide appropriate nutrition education.
  • Refer high-risk clients to the Registered Dietitian (RD) for assessment and food package assignment.
  • Provide breastfeeding assessments, education, and support; promote breastfeeding as the norm for infant feeding.
  • Assign food packages based on client needs or refer clients to an RD for approval.
  • Refer clients to health care providers, community resources, and support service programs as appropriate.
  • Prepare client charts, review prenatal packets, and assist non-English-speaking participants using tele-interpreter services.
  • Design and distribute nutrition and wellness education materials for use in clinics and community programs.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the WIC clinic, waiting areas, and laboratories, ensuring compliance with agency policies.
  • Participate in staff, program, and community meetings as assigned.
