About The Position

Practices and performs under the delegation and direct supervision of facility-credentialed board certified/ eligible cardiovascular medical specialist. Directly assists as a "first scrub assistant" for highly technical cardio and peripheral vascular procedures. Must possess the knowledge, experience, efficiency, and proficiency to perform tasks' as deemed necessary by the departmental management team and as an excellent peer, who focuses on the attributes of sound teamwork by functioning as a scrub assistant, circulator, and monitoring assistant. Requirements

  • Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent: General Studies
  • Certification - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification - Accredited University or accredited training professionals OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Nice To Haves

  • Education - Associates degree in Applied Science
  • Experience - 5+ years of Cardiology Experience
  • 5+ years of Clinical Experience

Responsibilities

  • Before the patient arrives in the room, prepares the procedure tray according to the Physician’s preference and following sterile technique.
  • Consistently and Positively works as a team member, helps coordinates the days schedule with all staff members in the lab to efficiently finish the days work load.
  • Is accountable at work and completes the necessary training to safely work and troubleshoot technical equipment.
  • Consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge of patient positioning, principles of CR/DR, Fluoroscopy, quality control, image processing, and demonstrates the ability to plan own work.
  • Assists physicians in performing procedures.
  • Provides learning environment.
  • Demonstrates competence in collimation, positioning of equipment and patient in such a way as to present a clear, undistorted view and consistently produces images of high diagnostic quality.
  • Develops and maintains performance standards for all exams performed in the lab.
  • Participates in quality control/performance improvement in Cardiac Cath lab/Ep as evidenced by report logs.
  • Acts as an agent of the supervising physician for any medical services that are delegated that are within the Advanced Practice Clinician's scope of practice.
  • Exhibits a thorough understanding of cardiovascular medications.
  • Institutes appropriate emergency measures in critical situations until the physician is notified for orders or arrives to manage the emergency.
  • Serves as a resource person for providers, nursing staff, ancillary personnel and patient/families.
  • All other duties as assigned.
