This position plays a vital role in this mission by supporting high-quality ABA services that improve student outcomes, foster independence, and create inclusive and supportive learning environments across the region. We are recruiting for a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within the ACCESS program to provide direct behavioral, instructional, and data-collection support to students under the ongoing supervision of a BCBA. The RBT implements skill-acquisition programs, behavior-intervention strategies and plans, and classwide supports consistent with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and aligned with the Connecticut BCBAs in Schools: Guidelines and Professional Standards . The RBT helps ensure that students have equitable access to effective, evidence-based behavioral supports that promote independence, inclusion, and academic success.

Requirements

  • A working knowledge of all elements of the RBT Ethics Code and the BACB Professional and Ethical Compliance Code
  • A working knowledge of the Connecticut’s BCBAs in Schools guidelines
  • Knowledge of student confidentiality and student rights in accordance with FERPA and district standards
  • Knowledge of effective, evidence-based behavioral supports that promote independence, inclusion, and academic success
  • The ability to implement ABA strategies with fidelity and collect accurate data
  • Knowledge of school settings, IEP processes, and special-education supports
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to work collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, mental-health staff, related-services providers, and administrators to support consistent implementation of recommended practices
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and teamwork skills
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Employment in a position supporting students with autism, developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges
  • Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
  • Completion of a BACB-approved 40-hour RBT training and competency assessment
  • Within six (6) months of appointment, must successfully obtain and maintain certification in the relevant crisis management procedure implemented by the program to which they are assigned (e.g., Safety Care or CPI)
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and any required CT state screenings
  • Other specific program requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Human Services, or a related field strongly preferred
