About The Position

The Regional Resource Nurse provides clinical expertise, consultation, and orientation support with the school based nursing staff within an assigned region. This position supports the consistent delivery of safe, evidence based nursing services by assisting with nurse educational support for complex student health needs, ensuring continuity of care, and supporting compliance with federal and state health mandates. Serves as a flexible, highly skilled clinical resource, responding to staffing gaps, high acuity student needs, and emergent health issues across multiple school sites per assigned region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in School and or Pediatric Nursing;
  • 3+ years in school nursing, pediatric critical care and/or pediatric nursing is required
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Initial or Professional License with an endorsement in School Nursing. 
  • Current active and unencumbered Colorado (or compact) DORA Registered Nurse License is required
  • Current BLS CPR Certificate is required
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and ability to meet District insurability requirements
  • Knowledge with Google products including Docs, Sheets and Gmail
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines
  • Ability to train, teach and develop nursing educational material and professional learning

  • Strong clinical nursing skills applicable to student health/ pediatric nursing in a school setting, while adapting appropriately to health situations based on the nursing process and clinical judgement
  • Ability to adapt quickly to diverse and evolving demands within a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible within various job duties and assignments
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours between to make an 8 hour work day
  • Position requires frequent travel throughout the district

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • National School Nurse Certification is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver short-term nursing assistance, education and hands-on support to meet elevated health demands. This includes supporting schools with students who have complex medical conditions, high-acuity health needs, and as needed emergency care planning
  • Act as a primary clinical consultant for school nurses, health office staff, and administrators to address student health requirements and clarify health office responsibilities
  • Offer expert guidance on nursing standards, clinical decision making, and documentation while facilitating the practical application of departmental policies and protocols
  • Ensure organizational alignment with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504, state nursing regulations, and specific District health initiatives
  • Drive quality assurance efforts through meticulous chart audits and reviews to maintain accurate documentation and leverage data for improved student health outcomes
  • Facilitate the professional onboarding of new nursing personnel and provide ongoing mentorship to ensure staff adherence to established nursing standards of practice
  • Coordinate and execute continuous training programs focused on health office procedures, clinical protocols, and evolving nursing duties
  • Foster clear and collaborative communication with students, families, school staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a holistic approach to student wellness
  • Provide rapid response to urgent health crises and contribute to the strategic development of school-wide emergency preparedness and crisis response frameworks
  • Other duties as assigned
  • May participate in extra-duty activities as outlined in the teachers' collective bargaining agreement (this is for coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, etc. for Dept. of Labor laws).

  • Stipend Pay: An individual who holds this position will receive an additional annual stipend on top of their annual salary ($1,650 - Paid twice per Year - On December 22 and May 22)
