Role Overview We are looking for a Regional Social Media Producer to own and execute social strategy for up to 3 state markets, helping to build up the brand, drive audience growth, and support editorial storytelling tailored to each state’s unique ecosystem. This role is ideal for a strategic and creative producer who understands how to activate audiences on social platforms and live in data to drive strategy. You will collaborate with local Political reporters to develop content that grows, activates and cultivates a new audience. This role requires someone who is highly self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable building a social and brand strategy from scratch. As a regional hire, you will play a key role in shaping how we introduce new brands, and build trust and engagement alongside established states..

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years in social media management, digital audience engagement, or a similar role—ideally within a newsroom, media company, advocacy organization, or campaign environment.
  • Proven experience managing multi-platform social strategies and creating engaging content tailored to specific audiences.
  • Strong understanding of social analytics and how to turn insights into actionable strategy.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a knack for translating complex information into accessible, compelling posts.
  • Comfort creating short-form video and appearing on-camera when needed.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Emplifi, CapCut, Meta Business Suite, and similar platforms.
  • Experience, interest and familiarity with political content.
  • Highly collaborative, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Excited about helping launch new state markets and building trust with local audiences.
  • Creative, experimental, and data-driven, with a strong sense of platform culture and trends.
  • Passionate about values-aligned storytelling and reaching audiences underserved by traditional media.

  • Experience working across multiple markets or tailoring messaging to local communities is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Produce state-specific social content—graphics, carousels, short-form videos, captions, and community engagement posts.
  • Edit and repurpose editorial reporting into social-first formats optimized for reach, shareability and online to offline action.
  • Demonstrated comfort being on-camera for presenter lead shortform videos as needed.
  • Use tools such as Canva, Opusclip, and Capcut to create and edit polished, high-performing multimedia content.
  • Willingness to travel on-site to capture/create content as needed.
  • Develop and execute social platform specific strategies for each of your newsrooms, aligned to local editorial priorities and audience needs.
  • Create and manage platform-specific (ie: Meta, TikTok, Youtube/Bluesky, etc) content calendars for each state, ensuring timely and locally resonant storytelling.
  • Build and optimize social funnels to grow followers, engagement, and conversion into deeper audience relationships (newsletter sign-ups, recurring engagement, etc.).
  • Manage posting schedules and daily publishing across priority platforms.
  • Monitor platform trends and identify opportunities to expand reach in each state.
  • Engage directly with local audiences—answering comments, encouraging conversation, and building community trust.
  • Collaborate with state correspondents to amplify key reporting, explainers, and political updates.
  • Identify opportunities for social collaboration and partnerships with local influencers, organizations, and communities.
  • Track content performance using Emplifi and platform data to refine messaging, creative production, and distribution strategies.
  • Develop weekly reports on audience growth, engagement trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify platform-specific A/B tests and iterate quickly based on insights.
