About The Position

Metabolon is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead the East US business region comprised of Business Development Executives. This key sales leadership role will drive the strategic execution and consistent quarter-over-quarter business performance. Ideal geographies – East US : Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Raleigh, or Atlanta.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field required.
  • 5+ years sales experience in the medical laboratory/diagnostic laboratory space.
  • 2+ years previous sales leadership experience
  • Demonstrated successful track record in both sales and sales management roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead sales representatives within complex selling environments.
  • Expert experience in leading and completing commercial contracts with universities, research institutes, and commercial companies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required to give presentations to internal and external audiences. Must be able to understand and present on Metabolon’s technology advantages and examples.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams both internally and externally to manage and implement complex partnerships.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to synthesize data into insightful information.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently.
  • Proficiency with CRM (eg Salesforce.com) and Office Suite software.
  • Entrepreneurial by nature, self-sufficient and a great team player.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 50-60% of your time.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional sales training in Miller Heiman, Challenger Sales, Consultative Selling, Strategic Selling, or similar is preferred.
  • CRO experience and multiomics background selling into the commercial and academic segments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Regional Sales Director to develop business plans based on sales goals, regional strategies, resource needs, and representative development programs and implements the plan with strategic and tactical execution.
  • Recruit, select, hire, and coordinate training of all sales professionals within the designated region, including conducting quarterly/annual performance reviews.
  • Meet regional sales financial objectives with sales forecasting accuracy, analyzing business performance variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Drive all KPIs and metrics associated with sales representative performance including, but not limited to, opportunity generation, funnel and pipeline management, business segment mix, product/service mix, average selling price, average deal size, and bookings and revenue management combined with client sample shipment management.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to sales professionals to help maximize their potential and communicate key areas of focus with consistency.
  • Travel with sales representatives routinely in their territory to understand business challenges and serve as a corporate champion in front of clients.
  • Establish strong relationships with top clients and KOLs.
  • Build collaborative relationships with all key cross-functional departments: Marketing, Sales Operations, Laboratory Operations, Discovery and Translational Science, and Finance.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with department leaders to provide market intelligence data leading to improved business focus, growth, and performance.
  • Lead and develop the sales team with a positive influence, effectively driving the core values required to be successful. Help build the Regional and North American Sales culture of Purpose, Performance and Passion with a strong sense of accountability and positivity.
