PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, developing strategic client relationships, and expanding the company’s footprint across East and West United States. This role focuses on new business development supporting regional sales teams. The ideal candidate is a results-driven sales professional with strong consultative selling skills, the ability to navigate cross-cultural business environments. Frequent travel and in-person client engagement are key components of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Sales, Marketing, or related field OR 10+ years of sales experience in international freight forwarding or small package transportation.
  • 2–5 years of outside or international sales experience, preferably within logistics or transportation.
  • Experience supporting or overlaying regional sales teams and influencing without direct authority.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred).
  • Working knowledge of international trade practices, customs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Primarily field-based with frequent travel to client locations.
  • Office-based work for reporting, planning, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Flexible work hours may be required to accommodate clients across multiple time zones.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week or more if required.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs. unassisted
  • May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and/or driving throughout the workday
  • Willing to travel to various job sites and other locations
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurability required when job duties require use of motor vehicle
  • Requires exercising discretion in decision-making process and maintaining strict confidentiality concerning the vendor, employee and company proprietary related information

Responsibilities

  • Identify, prospect, and develop new business opportunities within assigned territories.
  • Serve as the primary driver of new revenue growth, with a strong emphasis on cultivating new business.
  • Conduct in-person client meetings, presentations, and solution demonstrations.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service terms to maximize profitability while meeting customer needs.
  • Meet or exceed established sales targets, KPIs, and revenue goals.
  • Support and advise GLS regional sales teams on international opportunities, acting as a subject matter expert, advocate, and strategic partner.
  • Manage account implementation and ongoing servicing.
  • Ensure seamless handoffs from sales to implementation while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at client organizations.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
  • Represent the company professionally at trade shows, industry events, and international meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status within CRM systems (Salesforce).
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, import/export requirements, and company policies.
