General Summary: The Regional Public Sector Sales Manager is expected to grow sales on a broad base in new and existing accounts and through new and existing reps. Growth should come from both the public sector distribution channel as well as from the public sector market written through the agency distribution channel.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated Success in a similar role with either Colonial Life or a comparable company required
  • Expertise in the public sector market and channel is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership skills required
  • College degree preferred
  • Public speaking skills preferred
  • Strong planning skills preferred
  • Network of potential Manager, Rep, and Broker Candidates preferred
  • Ability to travel 50% to 75% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Build a business plan that specifies the marketing, recruiting, and sales strategy for the regional territory so that growth goals are attained.
  • Execute the specific activities that lead to the fulfillment of the business plan including:
  • Sourcing, selection, and hiring of Public Sector Manager (PSM) candidates to identify and place new and replacement managers in areas identified in the business plan and areas that present opportunities and openings throughout the year.
  • Completing the induction of new PSMs and Public Sector Account Managers (PSAMs) to insure that they have the appropriate knowledge and expectations to begin a new district.
  • Training via Joint Field Work on Recruiting, Induction, Training, Broker Development, and presentation skills.
  • Coaching PSM’s to assist them in attaining their goals and to correct any performance shortfalls.
  • Communicating with PSM’s and Public Sector Reps on a regular basis via conference calls, one on one coaching, territory meetings, and face to face interaction.
  • Creating marketing approaches to grow the regional territory and enhance PSM's sales opportunities and public sector market sales in the agency channel.
  • Reporting on activities and results to field management and the Home Office as required.
  • Commit to Professional Growth through attending Colonial Life College, taking correspondence courses, and pursuing advanced industry training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
