About The Position

Position Summary: Provide Support oversight and direction to the Division Safety Managers, validating and auditing Safety Programs and Processes while providing guidance and assistance for the Implementation of Division goals and objectives. Requirements

  • Prior experience and proficiency with report writing Tools such as Business Objects
  • Knowledge of Kroger structure and Programs
  • Some Knowledge of Regulatory experience, i.e. OSHA, EPA, NFPA. Etc.
  • Prior Retail management experience
  • 5-10 years Safety management experience
  • Proven experience establishing a proactive Safety culture involving all levels of Associates
  • Proficient in crEating documents with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Business Objects, etc.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong Written & Oral Communication Skills
  • Strong Training and Development background including delivery of Training initiatives and facilitating meetings
  • Ability to travel independently (up to 80%)

Responsibilities

  • Provide Leadership, guidance and Support to the Divisional Safety Managers.
  • Accountable for Divisions achieving their Safety goals and objectives.
  • Responsible to ensure that the Divisions Safety Managers are focused on those Programs and initiatives that will ultimately Lead to FTE reduction goals and a safer workplace.
  • Provide assistance for Division Safety Performance through Data, information, measurement and Improvement.
  • Key Areas of Regional focus will be: Behavioral Observations, Field Coordinator Guidelines, Safety Awareness Events, STAR Safety Team Certification, and Safety Cultural Assessments and others.
  • Interact and communicate directly with upper, middle and Store management to improve their engagement and visibility toward Safety excellence.
  • Monitor that the right conditions, Systems and Processes are in place and are properly aligned to allow Associates to perform his and her job safely.
  • Interface with Division Managers and Key Retailing Managers for providing Support to the Key Retailing Team as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Attend roll out meetings and visit test Stores to ensure set up is complete with all required Safety Solutions and personal protective equipment.
  • Mentor New Division Safety Managers.
  • Participate in Safety and Leadership Training at Division and Store level.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Risk Management team to identify opportunities and provide Solutions to achieve desired results.
  • Participate in conference calls and meetings with Corporate Risk Management and Divisions to communicate results and current issues.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the Performance of their duties; complete Performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports.
