About The Position

The Regional Reliability Engineer is responsible for applying engineering and reliability best practices to eliminate repetitive equipment failures and reduce production and maintenance losses across Global Nonwovens facilities. This role plays a critical leadership role in the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), with primary ownership of the Planned Maintenance (PM) pillar and significant involvement in Early Management (EM) activities. As part of the PM pillar, the role identifies, evaluates, and manages asset reliability risks that could adversely impact plant operations, safety, cost, or customer commitments. The Regional Reliability Engineer actively supports capital projects during the design, installation, and commissioning phases to ensure reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost considerations are embedded in new and modified assets. This position develops and applies analytical methods to assess reliability, manage risk, and monitor machine health using historical data, field assessments, and condition‑based monitoring tools. The role drives best practices in precision maintenance, equipment installation, and maintenance prevention methodologies, ensuring assets are installed as designed, verified for quality, and capable of meeting performance expectations from startup. The role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for major mechanical systems supporting the Nonwovens manufacturing process, including ovens, forming, batch, and water systems. Asset reliability strategies consider criticality, economic tradeoffs, downtime risks, repair, historical bad actors and replacement costs, and material availability. With a strong external focus on customer requirements, the Regional Reliability Engineer develops and executes plans to mitigate escalations, reduce abnormal maintenance costs, and improve asset performance.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred, or a minimum of 10 years of Maintenance Management experience.
Demonstrated experience in Reliability and Maintenance Engineering.
Experience with condition‑based monitoring technologies, including vibration analysis, thermography, infrared, ultrasound, and motor circuit analysis. Certification or formal training in these technologies is highly desirable.
Strong ability to communicate effectively and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
Understand and interpret technical drawings, schematics and performance curves such as:
Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Mechanical cross-sectional drawings
Hydraulic schematics
Electrical single line diagrams (SLD)
Pump, compressor, and blower performance curves

Nice To Haves

Manufacturing maintenance experience required.
Experience leading asset management programs.
Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience, including PM Pillar implementation, is highly desirable.
Proven experience driving reliability improvements for major assets.
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) preferred.
Experience in union environments is desirable.
Project Management and Change Management experience required.
Exposure to or training in reliability practices and processes, including:

Equipment Criticality Ranking (ECR)
Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM) / FMECA
Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS)

Responsibilities

Develops and executes a personal safety action plan, reviewed regularly with leadership.
Actively models and promotes Owens Corning’s safety culture across all engagements.
Ensures a safe work environment through employee coaching, engagement, and strict adherence to Owens Corning safety policies, procedures, and standards.
Drives effective pre‑task planning and risk assessments when supporting plant needs and project work.
Gathers, analyzes, and interprets reliability data from CMMS, databases, field assessments, and other sources to identify trends and loss drivers.
Facilitates and leads Breakdown Analysis (BDA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major failures, escalations, and chronic issues.
Identifies and prioritizes “bad actor” assets to focus improvement efforts on the highest‑impact opportunities.
Collaborate with SMEs, Maintenance Leaders, Capital Delivery Engineers, and other Reliability Engineers to develop cost‑effective, sustainable equipment and process improvements in partnership with Operations.
Ability to Lead and manage Planned Maintenance (PM) and Early Management (EM) pillar initiatives, projects, and programs as needed.
Work with each site to manage risk assessment of existing critical equipment failure modes through FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) to improve severity, occurrence and detection ratings.
Partners with Capital Delivery to ensure reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle cost considerations are integrated into the design and installation of new and modified assets through Early Management.
Manages critical mechanical spare parts strategies, including usage forecasting, standardization, and coordination with sourcing and alliance partners at the division level.
Establishes and maintains strategic partnerships with mechanical contractors and service providers.
Monitors asset performance using digital tools and platforms (e.g., Waites, Ignition, condition monitoring systems and historians).
Defines, implements, monitors, and continuously improves asset maintenance strategies, including preventive maintenance and restoration plans.
Provide oversite on routine maintenance KPIs (e.g. PM compliance, Backlog, Labor Utilization and Schedule Adherence).
Leads equipment HAZOPs within areas of ownership to define rebuilding and restoration scopes that support capital efficiency and risk mitigation.
Ensures all maintenance deliverables are completed as part of capital projects.
Serves as SME support for major capital projects, ensuring quality installation and verification to enable successful vertical startups.
Establishes and maintains existing reliability standards and reinforce through site audits
Serves as SME in all mechanical equipment changes through management of change process (MOC)
Trains and coaches’ maintenance crafts, engineers, and leaders in reliability principles, precision maintenance techniques, and best practices.
Provides clarity and feedback on expectations for Reliability Engineers, Maintenance Leaders, and Maintenance Supervisors.
In partnership with PM and EM Pillar and Maintenance leadership, builds and leads effective cross‑functional teams to improve plant performance and drive continuous improvement.
Leads and manages external resources supporting reliability projects and improvement programs.
Develops and sustains a network of site‑based SMEs to support critical equipment across Global Nonwovens facilities.
Identifies and develops bench strength within facilities for critical equipment expertise and succession planning.
