Role Overview In this role, you will play an integral part in supporting the design, construction, and ongoing maintenance of Sparklight’s broadband and fiber network infrastructure. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with Data Operations, Construction, and Field Operations teams to ensure that all projects adhere to the company’s established standards and technical specifications. Additionally, you will assist in carrying out and documenting network designs and upgrades across a variety of technologies, contributing to the overall reliability and advancement of the network.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in broadband, telecommunications, or network engineering.
  • Working knowledge of fiber/coax plant design, permitting, and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency with BOM preparation, labor cost analysis, and ROI estimation.
  • Experience managing ROW, ROE agreements, and traffic control coordination.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, red lines, and BOMs.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, and mapping systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with regional travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, documentation, and review of network builds including fiber, coax, RNB/CNB, and plant designs.
  • Prepare and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs), construction prints, and as-built maps for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Construction Coordinators and contractors to ensure completed work matches approved designs.
  • Track labor costs and assist in estimating return on investment (ROI) for new projects and expansions.
  • Manage permitting, easements, and Right-of-Way (ROW) vacates while ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Coordinate Right of Entry (ROE) agreements with property owners and municipalities.
  • Prepare and submit Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) for construction activities.
  • Monitor performance and completion bonds using the Bond Tracker tool with Construction Coordinators.
  • Assist with facility requests for new or upgraded sites ensuring technical specifications are met.
  • Support HFC, PON, DAA, and DOCSIS 4.0 readiness and network capacity initiatives.
  • Manage project workflows in ServiceNow for tracking, approvals, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate network records, maps, and as-built documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Cable One’s engineering standards, safety, and Scope of Work guidelines.
