About The Position

At United, we fly into airports around the entire world. And we need a whole team of people to keep things running in tip-top shape! From the exceptional service at the check-in counter to the departure gate, and even behind the scenes making sure your checked bags arrive with you, our Airport Operations team keeps operations at our airports running smoothly every single day. The Regional Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing airport operations across 12-18 business partner managed locations, ensuring operational excellence, safety compliance, and strategic alignment with United Airlines' standards and objectives. Responsibility includes building and maintaining strong relationships with business partners and airport authority/government agencies, serving as primary liaison to ensure contractual compliance, performance standards, and service level agreements are met and across all internal departments and operational groups. Regional Managers are responsible to conduct regular site visits and audits to assess operational performance, identify improvement opportunities, and provide coaching and guidance to business partner leadership teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Aviation, Transportation, Business or relevant experience required
  • 3+ years of Airport Operations experience
  • Adept relationship building experience
  • Experience driving performance, executing initiatives and/or projects with measurable results
  • Strong understanding of airport operations, ground handling procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Leadership experience in an operating environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational management systems
  • Knowledge of operational performance, finance, safety, metrics or previous experience supporting an operating group
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Credibility and respect with peers, subordinates and superiors
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 80%
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for 15-20 business partner managed airport locations, ensuring consistent delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient ground operations
  • Conduct regular site visits and audits to assess operational performance, identify improvement opportunities, and provide coaching and guidance to business partner leadership teams
  • Execute safety initiatives and ensure compliance with all FAA regulations, company policies, and industry standards driving a strong and sustainable safety culture across all managed locations
  • Manage crisis response and irregular operations, providing leadership and coordination during weather events, operational disruptions, and emergency situations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including, but not limited to, Network Operations, Customer Service, Safety, Inflight and Flight Operations during such events
  • Drive operational performance through data analysis, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions to improve key metrics including on-time performance, baggage handling, customer satisfaction, and safety
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability across all managed locations
