About The Position

The Regional Manager, Maintenance is responsible for overseeing fleet maintenance operations across multiple terminals within a defined geographic region. This role ensures the performance, safety, and compliance of all equipment through proactive maintenance programs, team leadership, and operational oversight. The Regional Maintenance Manager serves as a key connection between corporate maintenance strategies and local shop execution, supporting cost control, uptime, and technician development throughout the region.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Fleet Maintenance or Transportation Operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, trailers, pneumatics, hydraulics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with maintenance software platforms (e.g., TMT, Fleetio, or equivalent).
  • In-depth understanding of DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities across teams and regions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing multiple shop locations or a multi-site team preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fleet Maintenance & Asset Management Manage the maintenance and repair of company-owned and leased vehicles, trailers, and equipment across assigned terminals.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are executed consistently to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company standards.
  • Support warranty tracking, cost control, and repair planning at each location.
  • Review and improve shop workflows, parts utilization, and maintenance practices.
  • Regional Oversight & KPI Monitoring Conduct regular audits and inspections of regional maintenance operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.
  • Monitor KPIs such as cost per mile, PM compliance, and equipment uptime across the region.
  • Identify underperforming locations and implement corrective action plans to improve service quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance records are maintained in the fleet management system.
  • Team Leadership & Training Supervise and support shop managers, lead technicians, and maintenance staff across multiple locations.
  • Assist in staffing, coaching, and developing team members to ensure operational readiness and high performance.
  • Reinforce a strong safety culture and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate technical training programs and promote career development within the maintenance teams.
  • Budget & Vendor Management Support the development of regional maintenance budgets and manage spending within targets.
  • Partner with vendors to ensure timely delivery of parts and services while negotiating competitive pricing.
  • Track expenses and identify opportunities to reduce costs through standardization and vendor consolidation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Operations, Safety, and Procurement teams to align maintenance efforts with service requirements.
  • Provide maintenance insight during asset planning, equipment upgrades, or regional expansion projects.
  • Support the rollout of new technology, equipment, or compliance initiatives at the terminal level.
