About The Position

The Regional Manager of Fitness Operations is responsible for leading, developing, and driving performance for all Trainers within Corporate Clubs. This role ensures consistent, high-quality fitness experience across clubs while delivering strong personal training revenue, trainer development, and member engagement. Partnering closely with Club Managers, Regional Managers, and Directors, the Regional Manager of Fitness Operations drives a high-quality, inclusive fitness experience that reflects Planet Fitness’s Judgement Free® philosophy. This role directly leads Trainers and requires strong leadership presence, business acumen, and the ability to collaborate and influence without owning full club operations.

Requirements

  • Nationally recognized Personal Training certification required (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, etc.)
  • Current CPR/AED certification required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field preferred
  • 4–7 years of experience in personal training and/or fitness leadership
  • Experience partnering with operations leaders in a multi-club environment strongly preferred
  • Prior experience directly managing trainers preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an excellent ability to establish priorities and objectives
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally
  • Creative, progressive, thought leadership with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent leadership skills including the ability to build teams, motivate, guide, and mentor

Responsibilities

  • Directly manages, coaches, and develops Trainers across our Corporate Clubs portfolio.
  • Recruits, hires, onboards, and trains Trainers in alignment with company standards.
  • Sets clear performance expectations, conducts regular check-ins, and manages performance.
  • Builds clear career pathways and development opportunities for trainers.
  • Ensure all clubs in the region deliver consistent, professional, and member-focused fitness experience.
  • Serves as the regional subject-matter expert for fitness programming, assessments, and training methodology.
  • Ensures trainers deliver high-quality programs, movement assessments, new member orientations, and trainer-led initiatives.
  • Regularly trains and upskills trainers on industry trends, best practices, and company programming.
  • Partners with Club Managers and Regional Managers to support fitness and trainer experience for member retention.
  • Analyzes performance data to identify gaps, trends, and growth opportunities, and uses insights to oversee and drive trainer programs across multiple clubs to support continuous revenue growth.
  • Oversees trainer schedules, payroll inputs, billing accuracy, and compliance with time and labor guidelines.
  • Ensures accurate administration of training systems, programs, and measurement tracking.
  • Leads from the front by demonstrating professionalism, member engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Implement best-in-class operational strategies to maximize efficiency, retention, and member satisfaction.
  • Maintains strong visibility and presence in clubs to build trust and accountability.
  • Collaborates closely with Club Managers, Regional Managers, and Directors to align trainer execution with club operations and support broader regional and organizational objectives while maintaining functional leadership of trainers.
  • Ensure all trainers maintain required certifications and CPR/AED credentials.
  • Travels to remote markets and tours clubs to understand the club environment and builds trusting relationships (approximately 75%).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
