About The Position

Are you a proven laboratory leader with a passion for operational excellence, people development, and continuous improvement? Do you thrive in complex, multi-site environments where strategy and execution go hand in hand? SPL is currently looking for a Regional Laboratory Director based in Kilgore, TX to lead and oversee all Laboratory Managers across our Texas environmental labs, including Plano, Kilgore, and Round Rock locations — driving efficiency, regulatory compliance, and consistent performance. Working closely with senior leadership, the Regional Lab Director will help position the Texas region for sustainable growth, strong financial results, and best-in-class service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in laboratory operations, including at least five (5) years in multi-site or regional leadership roles
  • Demonstrated success leading multi-site operations and driving performance across diverse teams
  • Strong understanding of environmental testing methodologies, accreditation requirements, and laboratory quality systems
  • Proven experience managing budgets, P&L responsibility, and operational KPIs
  • Experience leading managers and developing high-performing leadership teams
  • Familiarity with LIMS, quality management systems, and laboratory automation tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and change management abilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to change, and lead effectively in a dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple environmental laboratories within the state of Texas
  • Translate corporate goals into regional action plans that drive performance, consistency, and growth
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Laboratory Managers and their leadership teams
  • Oversee laboratory operations to ensure efficiency, turnaround time, data quality, and safety performance
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, quality, safety, and profitability
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and SPL quality standards
  • Partner with finance, sales, and operations teams to align capacity, staffing, and client demand
  • Manage regional budgets, staffing models, and resource allocation to meet business objectives
  • Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and professional development across all sites
  • Serve as a key liaison between regional laboratories and corporate leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of regional and organizational objectives
