GENERAL FUNCTION: The Regional Investment Manager provides direction and strategy for the Brokerage sales activities within a large geographic region (as defined by assets under management, annualized revenue and/or registered representatives). Responsible for adherence to regulatory and Bancorp policies and procedures for the assigned territory. Responsible for flawless execution of Fifth Third Securities and territory sales strategies. Responsible for sales performance and client experience in the assigned markets. Directs the activities of Retail Brokerage staff in the assigned territory (Area Investment Managers, Regional Associate Principals, Platform Sales Managers). Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; Advanced Degree in Business Administration, Economics or related field preferred.
  • 8-10 years prior brokerage industry experience.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
  • Series 7, Series 63, Series 24, and State Insurance Licenses are required.
  • Excellent sales track record (proven success in brokerage sales).
  • Possesses strong communication skills and has a high level of knowledge concerning investments and financial markets.
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate and develop a team.
  • Proven ability to partner within a complex organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develops Partnerships with the Retail and Private Bank leadership teams in the assigned area.
  • Develops and implements the Securities sales strategy to grow revenue and increase market share.
  • Manages the Retail Brokerage staff, assigns sales territories.
  • Implements service and quality standards to retain customers and enhance client experience.
  • Works with the Retail Brokerage Manager and Fifth Third Securities finance to set appropriate revenue and asset management growth goals for assigned territory.
  • Typically involved in negotiating and closing sales with the largest and/or most important clients and prospects.
  • Administers applicable compliance programs; correspondence reviews, suitability reviews, office visits, etc.
  • Works closely with senior management in developing annual marketing plans and budgets for the assigned region and in directing staff to achieve desired plans and objectives.
  • Represents the organization within the assigned region in relationships with major clients, industry organizations, and other key outside parties.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge about investments and other Private Bank products; functions as a product menu expert for the assigned area in order to educate staff to fully utilize all product offerings to best support the needs of the client.
  • Continuously coaches the Retail Brokerage staff to improve performance, customer experience retention, and execute defined strategies in the territory.
  • Effectively executes performance management/improvement actions to ensure the territory is staffed with the right talent required to meet strategic revenue objectives.
  • Manages the Retail Brokerage staffing the assigned territory.
  • Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.
