About The Position

The Regional Health Services Director (RHSD) is responsible for providing leadership and support to the Health Service Directors (HSD) in Aegis communities utilizing the resident care systems, policies, and procedures. The RHSD will have direct impact on the success of their facilities and staff. Strong candidates are devoted to educating on best practices, have an in-depth understanding of local, state, and federal regulations, and are passionate about providing exceptional care to the residents they serve. A nurse in the regional role, will travel multiple times per month to make in-person visits to each of the communities they oversee. Due to the geographic layout of this region, travel would include driving long distances or flying, and staying overnight. As such, nurses in this role experience a vast amount of responsibility, but also enjoy a very rewarding career that offers measurable outcomes. When travelling it is the responsibility of the RHSD to follow the travel policy, attempt to make economical choices when booking travel out of state and use the company approved travel site. Requirements

  • Current and valid state approved Licensed Nurse.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience delivering quality care in a primary care or other preventive care environment to include at least one year of managing multi-sites in skilled nursing or a senior housing nursing
  • Expertise in most up-to-date safety and infection control
  • Experience building and leading effective nursing teams including hiring, training and
  • Demonstrated organization and administrative skills in Microsoft Office suite and other software applications including electronic medical records.
  • Proven aptitude for cross-functional collaboration ensuring successful outcomes for all parties.
  • Must meet all health requirements, including acceptable results on TB screen and state requirements on criminal background Must be a minimum age of 18 years old.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in geriatric nursing or gerontology, including education in the aging process, memory decline and related behavior management highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Health Services and Regulations Expert. Responsible for the licensing regulations and identifies citable situations providing guidance to the HSD on corrections and resolutions.
  • Make frequent visits to assigned Communities to meet with the HSD, assess the community utilization of the resident care systems and assist the HSD with planning and corrections of all potential issues.
  • Conduct assessments, documentation, communication, and chart audit reviews to assist GMs and community nurses as needed. Recommends, problem solves and implements systems to support needed processes as identified.
  • Monitor the Assessment/Service plan process to ensure in an accurate and timely manner, and that each resident has a current and accurate service plan.
  • Assist with follow up investigations as needed in coordination with the VP of Regulatory affairs on unusual occurrences related to resident care, medications, or health services if there is a significant event.
  • Review licensing deficiencies related to health services. Assists communities in developing and (as needed) implementing Plans of Correction.
  • Assist in the recruitment of and interview candidates for the communities’ nursing positions by providing input to the General Manager to assist in the selection. Coordinate coverage for Community HSD vacancies as needed. Cover as HSD in the community if no other resource is available and no wellness nurse in the community is able to cover this position on the interim.
  • Organize orientation schedule for each new Health Services Director. Provide updated Aegis orientation material for guidance.
  • Organize and conduct routine HSD workshops in coordination with the rest of the Regional Health Services Team.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Assurance process. Conduct QA and site visits as scheduled.
  • Collaborate with the communities and corporate management team members to achieve excellent clinical outcomes.
  • Travel to each community location to provide management support.
  • Educate community leadership and nursing department team members.
  • Oversee process development and implementation.
  • Conduct annual and complaint survey preparation.
  • Assist communities in annual and complaint surveys.
  • Identify and resolve any regulatory compliance risk.
  • Implement processes to correct any identified issues.
  • Monitor staff, processes, and policies to ensure the highest quality care of residents.
  • Review community systems such as falls, infection prevention and control, admission and discharges, weight loss, pressure ulcers, and suggest improvements in processes where needed.
  • Actively train HSDs, and Wellness Nurses to keep the nursing team up to date with new and innovative nursing tasks.
  • Actively train medication care managers as needed
  • Maintain CEU’s required by practicing state (CA/NV/WA)
  • Attend regional health services team calls.
  • Contribute to writing policies and procedures in collaboration with the Home Office Health Services Team.
  • Occasional travel to WA for corporate events/training.
