About The Position

The Regional Executive Director is a multi - branch-level, community-focused leadership responsible for the oversight and accountability of YMCA childcare and youth development programs serving Rockville, East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Wethersfield. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, this position provides leadership for eight before and after school programs, three early learning centers, three summer day camps, and two branch advisory councils. The role focuses on program performance, staff supervision, community connections, fundraising, and volunteer development to ensure safe, high-quality experiences for children and families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in preferred majors: Education, Child Development, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 6–8 years of progressive leadership experience in childcare, youth development, education, or nonprofit operations, including multi-site oversight.
  • Working knowledge of OEC licensing requirements, QIS, Early Start CT, CACFP, and state and local childcare regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and support program leaders, community-facing staff, and volunteers.
  • Experience building community relationships and supporting fundraising, volunteer development, or community engagement efforts.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills with a commitment to child safety, equity, and the YMCA’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Program Oversight & Accountability: Provide oversight and accountability for all childcare and youth programs, ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across sites. Supervise program leaders responsible for daily operations.
  • Licensing, Compliance & Quality: Ensure compliance with OEC licensing, QIS, Early Start CT, CACFP, and YMCA standards. Monitor quality indicators and support continuous improvement.
  • Staff & Leadership Supervision: Supervise and develop program directors, site leaders, and community-facing staff. Foster accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Community Connections & Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with schools, municipalities, and community partners in East Hartford, Glastonbury, and Wethersfield.
  • Fundraising & Volunteer Development: Oversee branch-level fundraising support, community engagement efforts, and volunteer development in partnership with Development staff and advisory councils.
  • Advisory Council Support: Support two branch advisory councils by guiding engagement, outreach, and mission-driven activities.
  • All other duties as assigned.
