About The Position

As an Environmental Health and Safety Manager at QXO, you’ll lead safety, compliance, and risk reduction efforts to protect our people, fleet, and facilities. This position can be based out of any of the following states: CO, IA, KS, MN, MO, MT, NE, ND, SD, WI, WY

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with 8+ years of safety leadership in distribution or construction
  • Proven ability to implement EH&S systems and best practices across multiple sites
  • Strong leadership and change management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations, including recordkeeping requirements
  • Skilled in analyzing trends to drive performance improvements through strategic initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingual preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of EH&S and leadership to implement risk management objectives, conduct regular audits, and track key safety performance indicators
  • Deliver and document required safety training, lead safety meetings, and mentor staff on OSHA, DOT, EPA, and hazardous materials compliance
  • Perform safety assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses; update safety policies and follow up on corrective actions to drive continuous improvement
  • Partner with fleet management to ensure DOT compliance, maintain driver qualification files, and provide ride-alongs, coaching, and defensive driving training
  • Coordinate with HR, legal, and TPAs on workers’ compensation and injury management; support the transitional work program and identify trends that require escalation
  • Compile and report safety data, support OSHA recordkeeping (Forms 300, 300A, and 301), and assist with newsletters, safety incentives, and compliance reporting
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries, advise on non-compliance issues, and assist branch coordinators with compliance matters
  • Oversee environmental assessments for real estate and M&A activities, manage hazardous materials transportation, and ensure alignment with federal DOT regulations
