What this job involves - The Regional Engineering Manager leads engineering teams and oversees critical operations across assigned portfolio sites. This role requires expertise in critical facility systems, union personnel management, and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements while maintaining operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years in critical facility operations and engineering management
  • Proven experience managing union personnel and labor relations
  • Background in mission-critical facilities preferred (data centers, hospitals, manufacturing)
  • Deep knowledge of HVAC, chilled water plants, boiler operations, and backup power systems
  • Experience with building automation systems and energy management
  • Understanding of emergency protocols and change control procedures
  • Familiarity with electrical distribution, fire suppression, and life safety systems
  • Strong leadership and relationship building abilities, especially with union personnel
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and executive audiences
  • Proven problem-solving capability for complex critical system issues
  • Proficiency in Excel, data analysis, and CMMS systems
  • Knowledge of facility budgeting and capital planning processes

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Advanced engineering degree
  • CPM, RPA, or CSM certifications
  • OSHA 30-hour certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite engineering teams across critical facility portfolio
  • Oversee HVAC, chilled water, NCCW, boiler systems, and emergency power operations
  • Maintain change control procedures and emergency communications protocols
  • Optimize critical system performance, reliability, and energy efficiency
  • Manage union personnel relationships and ensure collective bargaining agreement compliance
  • Lead performance management and career development for engineering staff
  • Execute succession planning and coordinate compensation processes
  • Resolve labor relations issues while maintaining operational requirements
  • Maintain client relationships ensuring contract compliance and accurate reporting
  • Ensure adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations for critical systems
  • Manage regulatory compliance, permits, inspections, and safety protocols
  • Resolve critical operational issues and communicate during emergencies
  • Prepare and manage facility budgets aligned with critical operations requirements
  • Track budget variances and coordinate recovery processes
  • Develop standard operating procedures for critical systems maintenance
  • Oversee vendor relationships for critical system maintenance and upgrades
