About The Position

Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world’s leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, is seeking a self-motivated, experienced civil engineer to work in the Southern Regional Office in Ridgeland, MS.
The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team of biologists and engineers who are responsible for the planning, design and construction of wetland restoration and enhancement projects in Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas and throughout the Southeast.

Requirements

• Candidates must have at minimum, a B.S in Civil Engineering or an equivalent degree from an EAC/ABET accredited engineering program and must be a registered civil engineer.
• Applicants will need to obtain registration reciprocity in assigned states.
• Demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
• Candidates must be self-motivated, goal oriented and able to work with and solve problems in close team-based relationships.

Nice To Haves

• Desirable qualifications include experience with Civil3D, hydrology, hydraulics, structures/pump station design, erosion control and construction inspection and management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposal scope of work and budgets in coordination with close biological staff.
• Interpret, select, adapt, and apply engineering, surveying, and construction management principles and practices across a range of engineering services within a diverse conservation program.
• Complete engineering designs and reports as required.
• Prepare project plans, technical specifications and cost estimates. Attend project meetings.
• Conduct field inspection and perform construction management oversight as needed.
• Ensure that consultants and contractors adhere to project plans, specifications and schedules.
• Act as contracting officer, ensure contract compliance and manage project budgets.
• Assist with occasional field work as required, which could include strenuous outdoor activity in difficult environmental conditions. Must be able to operate an ATV and an outboard boat when necessary.
