The Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry has a current vacancy for a Regional Enforcement Coordinator in the Bureau of Forestry, Forest Policy and Management Division, based in Ashland, Maine. The actual location is flexible. As one of 3 Maine Forest Service Regional Enforcement Coordinators statewide, you will lead MFS’s regulatory program of education, intervention, enforcement, and permitting activities related to timber harvesting and associated activities in your assigned area. You will collaborate with the entire MFS team to provide information, training, and assistance to multiple audiences, monitor forest conditions and forest operations, and promote stewardship of Maine’s critical forest resources. This is professional, interdisciplinary forestry work involved in coordinating the enforcement of various forest practices laws and agency rules, including the Forest Practices Act, timber harvesting in the jurisdiction of the Land Use Planning Commission, Statewide Standards for Timber Harvesting and Related Activities in shoreland areas, and liquidation harvesting. Duties include planning, organizing, and coordinating the enforcement of forest practices laws and rules in one of three regions of the state. Frequent statewide travel is required. This position will have the potential for hybrid work capabilities with prior authorization from the managing authority and which follows DACF Telework Policy.
