The Regional Director of Visual Merchandising (RDVM) drives consistency of visual execution in all stores within the region, establishing Bloomingdale’s as the local leader of the merchandise presentation their region.  The RDVM inspires and guides the store team to deliver environments filled with creative energy and aspirational yet approachable style. The RDVM is focused on role modeling a strong creative sense of fashion leadership balanced with an understanding of metric driven commerce. The RDVM dreams big in their support of corporate and regional initiatives, pushing the envelope of what bold and innovative means for their team. Partnering with the RDOS, GMs, and store teams, the RDVM understands, supports, and responds to the needs of the region decisively and methodically to make things happen. The RDVM builds and cultivates a motivated, skilled and equipped management team. The RDVM drives front of house planning to ensure day in/day out merchandise presentation techniques and promotional events calendar are executed and consistent with corporate visual merchandising, while placing the customer first, always. This is achieved through managing and developing a powerful team of passionate executives and hourly colleagues, building together to ensure best practices are executed, and guaranteeing the delivery of fashion leadership, merchandise strategies, fashion trends, prototypes and creative alignment to marketing campaigns in our stores.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university
  • 3-5 years direct experience
  • This position requires constant moving, talking, hearing, lifting, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
  • Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 25lbs., stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
  • Reaching, including above eye level
  • Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register and ability to process register transactions

Responsibilities

  • Passionately develops and deploys talent/resources in the visual/merchandising functions in the region.
  • Lead the Visual Merchandising teams to deliver a customer centric fashion leadership vision by leading an approachable, energetic, style conscious and fun shopping experience through visual.
  • Cultivate a store team that understands their contribution to customer service through presentation techniques, store appearance and fashion leadership.
  • Implement/deliver an outstanding environment of presentation and merchandising.
  • Complete/deliver all performance management functions including performance and conduct management process when appropriate.
  • Empower visual and merchandising team to ensure aligned execution of all merchandise strategies, standards presentations and marketing campaigns.
  • Cultivate a strong business partnership with GM, RDOS, and other Regional and Central partners.
  • Cultivate bench talent for visual and merchandising.
  • Be a visible and responsive leader throughout the store Ensure Operating Principles are fully embraced by the region with the appropriate communication and culture.
  • Liaise between central and stores to align to marketing campaigns and merchandise strategies, create an exciting in-store experience through innovative and animated techniques of visual presentation, lifestyle merchandising concepts and store business driving events.
  • Partner with General Managers, Visual Merchandising teams and Operations teams on seasonal merchandising strategies and marketing events and operational support to coordinate execution to drive the business.
  • Analyze and understand key business trends, through review of Focus Report and Key Item Reports, and ensure merchandising and visual focus on supporting those businesses.
  • Own the business through fashion leadership.
  • Understand comp business trend Plan/LY by using Branch comp and focus business reports.
  • Utilizes promotional calendar to set priorities and meet deadlines for store events.
  • Maximize sales opportunity by leveraging our core values while executing central merchandise strategies to deliver the plan.
  • Participates and leads seasonal prototypes and follows up with quarterly Regional workshops
  • Partner with the in store and trade area leadership to ensure compliance to Logistics, workload planning, markdown execution, workload completion reports, Return to Vendor (RTV) and CDT completion.
  • Manage elements of profitability: shortage, productivity and adherence to audit standards as applicable to visual and merchandising operations.
  • Serve as the ultimate role model of customer first, always. Consistently demonstrate the urgency of servicing the customer in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
  • Hold the team accountable for delivering an approachable, energetic, style conscious and fun shopping experience through visual/merchandise presentation.
  • Oversee store and merchandise implementation, floor moves and planning through teamwork, education and cooperation.
  • Cultivate a store team that understands their contribution to customer service through presentation techniques, store appearance and fashion leadership.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding and training for all visual executives and supervisors, partnering with central subject matter experts, and assigning mentors for shadow assignments and follow-up training.
  • Work in partnership with RDOS, General Managers and Visual executives on Regional succession planning.
  • Actively participate in talent reviews and developmental check-ins.
  • Drive business opportunities through effective and strategic placement and development of visual talent.
  • Work in partnership with the General Manager to address performance issues in the Visual teams.
  • Consistently work to reduce friction in the workplace by proactively addressing all issues and conflicts.
