About The Position

The Regional Director of Variable Operations is an essential role to achieving corporate goals within our Sales Operations. Specifically, this role will be responsible for working closely with the corporate office and general managers. This role will be responsible for supporting multiple stores, through strengthening the process for the sales department, as well as the variable personnel in each. Identifying opportunities in the store and sharing those with the GM, working together to capture those opportunities for growth. The Variable Operations Director reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer

Requirements

  • Must have at least 7 years of previous experience with domestic and import in a General Manager capacity.
  • A current valid driver’s license and insurability rating is required.
  • This position requires travel including overnights as needed.
  • Expert knowledge of retail automotive operations and computer systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in consulting with dealerships to improve performance and achieve desired results.
  • High Degree of business acumen; can plot a plan for growth and achieve business goals.
  • Strong presentation skills: able to present to a group and engage members in meaningful dialog.
  • Expert command of financial models, organizational structures and key performance indicators.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking ability.
  • Strong problem solver: able to identify deficient areas, identify solutions to correct and implement the solutions as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • A strong finance background is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performance Drive the creative process to ensure innovation and yield growth vs. peers to conquest market share.
  • Identifying higher level corporate goals in conjunction with COO, Owner, CFO and developing plans to implement across the dealership group. These goals include hitting performance (sales, gross, proficiency) targets as well as expense control.
  • Hands-on Individual store management training and performance improvement support as needed.
  • Maintain culture and processes to deliver positive customer experience – internal and external - and immediately address unsatisfied customer hand-raisers, both the external customer and internal employee
  • Communicate effectively across all roles and mediate between departments and stores
  • Training Group level performance management training is needed to achieve corporate goals (using outside trainers where appropriate.
  • Ensure all variable employees conduct business and maintain procedures to limit liability due to safety, consumer protection, and workplace harassment/hostility.
  • In store CDK and vendor system utilization support as needed.
  • Continuity Directly oversee the sales department in cases where we acquire a new store or have a store in transition.
  • Manage day-to-day operations until we have a qualified General Manager on site and provide continuing support until such a time as the store is stable. These assignments would require travel and/or overnight stays. Each situation is unique and could range from days to weeks.
