About The Position

The Regional Dean of Nursing is responsible for the overall academic operations of Schools of Nursing located in his/her specific geographical region. While assigned to a specific region, the Regional Dean is expected to be well-versed in all EA nursing programs and provide support across the organization as needed, including serving as interim dean when there is an opening in their region and/or another region as necessary. The Regional Dean reports directly to the VP for Nursing and interfaces with National Deans, Regional Vice Presidents, and Deans/Directors of Nursing. Using a matrix organizational model, the Regional Dean collaborates with School Directors and the Regional Vice President to assure that the nursing education provided within assigned schools is of the highest quality. The Regional Dean regularly visits programs within their region to ensure programs maintain high quality standards, effectively use tools to ensure program compliance, and are providing student-centered nursing education.

Requirements

  • MSN degree minimum, doctoral degree preferred.
  • Active, unencumbered RN license.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • Significant experience in working with NCLEX and retention initiatives.
  • Competent using suite of MS Word and MS Excel, excellent writing skills, excellent communication skills and ability to multitask.
  • Organized with proven ability to manage projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working in pre-licensure nursing programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to serve in interim leadership roles and adapt to changing organizational needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or health-related field.
  • Experience in multi-site nursing program oversight.
  • Experience with programmatic accreditation processes.
  • Previous experience in proprietary or career college structure and operation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional working relationships with Deans/Directors of Nursing, School Directors, Deans/Directors of Education, Regional Dean of Education, Regional Vice President(s) of assigned Schools as well as with Vice President of Nursing.
  • In collaboration with the School Director(s) and Regional Vice President, facilitate and monitor the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing programs within assigned schools.
  • Regularly visit programs within assigned region(s) to ensure programs maintain high quality standards, effectively use compliance tools, and provide student-centered nursing education.
  • Serve as interim Dean of Nursing when there is an opening in their region and/or another region as necessary.
  • Provide support and guidance across all EA nursing programs as needed, regardless of regional assignment.
  • In collaboration with the School Director, Dean/Director of Education and Dean/Director of Nursing in the assigned schools, is responsible for providing adequate support and guidance resulting in nursing programs meeting the EA outcome benchmarks for: NCLEX-RN/PN pass rates Nursing student satisfaction Nursing faculty retention Employer satisfaction with graduates Consistent maintenance of compliance requirements for nursing faculty and students Obtaining programmatic accreditation (ACEN, CCNE) Student retention, graduation, and employment benchmarks
  • Provide leadership to ensure the implementation of an evidence-based curriculum, state of the art instruction (including the integration of simulation and point of instruction software) and evaluation methodologies.
  • Facilitate and coordinate monthly meetings with nursing leadership team in assigned schools including keeping of minutes of meetings, creation and follow-up on action plans as needed to accomplish the mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Participate as needed in the interview of key nursing faculty candidates being considered for hire and in their retention.
  • Work with campus Deans of Nursing, faculty and staff to ensure that sufficient and appropriate clinical agencies are available for students' learning and that the agreements are maintained and in compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure that campus nursing programs are using the approved curriculum and systematically perform the evaluation, revisions and development that is academically appropriate and consistent with the professional standards for nursing education curriculum.
  • Review in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing all teaching and course schedules at assigned schools to assure that campus Deans of Nursing consistently plan, complete and distribute accurate and timely teaching and course schedules.
  • Review in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing that students selected for admission meet all entrance requirements prior to the start of classes.
  • Assure that campus nursing faculty and staff complete the required orientation activities and assist Deans of Nursing in implementing faculty training and development plans.
  • Collaborate with other EA professionals/consultants in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of faculty professional development.
  • Monitor in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing that faculty are meeting requirements for faculty development.
  • Provide campus Deans of Nursing and faculty with guidance on implementation of the Systematic Plan of Evaluation, including compiling and evaluating appropriate program-specific data.
  • Travel and work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of assigned nursing programs.
  • Facilitate communication within assigned schools as well as throughout the school, region, and company.
  • Other duties as assigned.
