Backyard ADU’s is looking for a highly qualified Regional Construction Manager for their growing business. This is a Full Time, Mon-Fri position and work will occur remotely and at client sites. The Regional Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring that our construction projects remain on schedule and within budget to the best of their ability. While this position may have occasional interactions with clients, this position is not designed to be client facing. Requirements

  • Strong understanding of modular home construction preferred.
  • Must come from a construction background (10 years experience in Construction or construction related fields)
  • 5 years or lesser experience is acceptable for the right candidate
  • Must have a proven track record of managing multiple complex projects at once
  • Must be a fastidious note taker and pay close attention to detail
  • Must be able and willing to manage 8-10 employees on 5-10 construction sites
  • Must be able and willing to schedule and manage subcontractors
  • Must be able and willing to provide hands-on training to employees and subcontractors when required
  • Must have Massachusetts CSL Licensure
  • Must be familiar with single family construction and renovation practices
  • Must be familiar with general zoning, permitting, and town practices
  • Must be familiar with building code and general building requirements
  • Must be familiar with Google’s “G-suite”
  • Must be familiar with and able to explain building planning documentation including blueprints
  • Must be familiar with construction schedules
  • Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history).
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures.
  • Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned, to include working varying schedules.
  • Knowledge of Google Sheets and Other Google Workspace Applications.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history).

Responsibilities

  • Create Construction Schedule Gantt Charts via Google sheets
  • Create Google Calendar Project Calendars with significant dates for each project
  • Coordinate all subcontractors several months in advance to keep schedules tight
  • Request estimates from subcontractors for atypical work, and hold those subcontractors accountable
  • Review construction contracts with Small Home Advisor prior to final signing to ensure pricing is consistent with area trends
  • Ask detailed questions during project handoff to ensure no detail is missed
  • Order materials at appropriate times to keep projects on schedule.
  • Ensure that proper permits are in place and that subcontractors are pulling their own permits
  • Schedule required inspections with municipalities and be on site for said inspections
  • Meet with the construction team at least once a week to go over goals for the week
  • Ensure that the construction team has all the materials/tools that they need at all times
  • Meet with the Small Home Advisor on a weekly basis to ensure that no change orders are missed and to update timelines as required
  • Occasionally lend a hand to the construction team if they fall behind
  • Keep track of Construction Team’s vacation schedules
  • Keep track of all subcontractor invoices, including sending them to Accounts Payable and filing them in the appropriate Google Drive folder.
  • Provide quality control for the construction team and sub contractors (which might mean asking them to redo something, or do something additional)
