About The Position

San Diego Youth Services seeks a Regional Clinician in the Regional Clinician program to be based in San Diego. This is a full-time & exempt position reporting to the Director of Services. San Diego Youth Services has helped improve the lives of more than 840,000 homeless, runaway and vulnerable youth since its beginning in 1970. We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing to more than 28,000 youth every year at 100+ community and school locations. Through prevention, early intervention and treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless. Provide regional behavioral health clinician services and community-based interventions to youth on probation and their families. Regional behavioral health clinicians shall serve as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing services for medium to high-risk youth and their families. Through collaboration with Probation.

Requirements

  • Licensed-eligible in marriage and family therapy, social work, or equivalent and currently registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Bilingual required.
  • In addition, this person shall have a minimum of two years’ experience working with youth under the direct supervision of a licensed clinician and two years’ experience working with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of co-occurring disorders treatment is also required.
  • Must be able to pass clearance for working with Minors including drug test, TB test, and background check.
  • Must have good driving record and be willing to use own, properly insured vehicle for the job.
  • Must be willing to develop or possess working knowledge of trauma-informed care and dual diagnosis treatment; experience working in trauma-informed and dual diagnosis programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The development, implementation, and evaluation of an integrated treatment approach for youth with co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders and quality trauma informed youth programs that adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of San Diego Youth Services as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles and standards of quality.
  • Adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of SDYS as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles and standards of quality. Participate in their refinement.
  • Conduct behavioral health assessments and screenings in collaboration with the case managing Probation Officer.
  • Provide weekly one-on-one counseling/therapy with youth and their families, crisis intervention, and small group classes on healthy relationships, life skills, critical thinking, and similar personal development topics.
  • Consult and care coordination with integrated primary care, mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  • Maintain minimal productivity standards.
  • Participate in planning and attend agency and county training, treatment team meetings and committees.
  • Maintain Uniform Medical Record documentation and reporting and billing logs on all youth.
  • Provide services in-home, at Drop-in Centers, and in the community as needed. The position requires travel throughout the County and a willingness to be available during evening hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service-partner protected health information and other applicable information and material in accordance with agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws, including HIPAA.
  • In conjunction with Director of Services, update and maintain policy and procedure manual.
  • Work with community and collaborative partners to determine the needs of families and provide culturally competent services and referrals.
  • Participate in needs assessment surveys as appropriate.
  • Welcome and support volunteers in the organization and assist them in accomplishing their services whenever applicable.
  • Data collection and contract compliance of records as required include conducting peer chart reviews.
  • Respond to service partners during a crisis or urgent matter.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
