About The Position

The Regional Biologist I will play a key role in advancing wetland and waterfowl habitat conservation across Ohio. This position involves coordinating, developing, and implementing restoration and enhancement projects in collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and landowners. The ideal candidate is a motivated, self-starting professional with strong ecological expertise and project management skills, capable of balancing fieldwork with administrative responsibilities. You will work on diverse programs spanning private and public lands, secure funding through grant writing, and ensure successful project outcomes that contribute to long-term ecological impact. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related natural resources field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3–5+ years of experience managing wetland protection, restoration, and enhancement projects.
  • Experience writing funding proposals and managing grants.
  • Strong knowledge of wetland ecology, restoration techniques, hydrology, and monitoring.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, volunteers, partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with GIS tools (ArcGIS Online, ArcPro, Field Maps) preferred.
  • Familiarity with state and federal wetland conservation programs, policies, and laws is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement wetland restoration and enhancement projects on both public and private lands.
  • Lead all project phases, including site assessment, restoration design support, permitting, implementation oversight, contract management, and reporting.
  • Manage regional conservation budgets and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Collaborate with agency partners, municipalities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to advance wetland conservation efforts.
  • Develop, submit, and administer grants to secure funding for conservation projects, including cost estimates and reporting.
  • Support habitat conservation programs, including strategic planning, landowner outreach, easement projects, and ecosystem services initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at committees, working groups, and public engagements, promoting conservation objectives.
  • Coordinate with internal teams for communications, development, and administrative support to ensure program effectiveness.
