About The Position

Serves as a key instructional leader of a region who aligns student needs with resources to ensure academic success and assists the Regional Superintendent in providing instructional support to all schools within the service area. Leads the development and implementation of initiatives and strategic plans that close the achievement gap and ensures that all students achieve high academic standards and graduate college-prepared or career-ready.

Requirements

  • At least eight years (8) of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than three (3) years of which must have been as a school principal
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential
  • An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
  • Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of successful, full-time experience in a position that evaluates principals and supervises schools
  • Experience leading elementary, middle school, and high school instructional programs
  • Leadership experience demonstrated by a successful track record of improved student achievement
  • Experience leading the implementation of standards-based instruction for all core subjects
  • Leadership experience in planning, organizing, and implementing professional development which is aligned with District priorities
  • Experience in leveraging instructional technology to enhance student learning
  • Experience in leading Equity, Access, and Acceleration initiatives
  • High school principal experience to lead A-G Graduation requirements
  • Experience in the use and analysis of assessment data to inform instruction
  • Understands and can support the instructional needs of all student populations and students of various languages and cultures
  • Ability to build consensus with and develop collegial relationships with staff and stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Leads professional development; strategizes and utilizes measures to ensure that all schools excel in meeting their goals
  • Leads school administrators and stakeholders to align resources to support the needs of all students
  • Leads administrators to create a school learning environment that promotes equity and high expectations for academic achievement
  • Serves as the Regional Superintendent’s key leader in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Pre-K to 12 schools instructional programs, including standards-based instructional programs
  • Assesses school improvement plans and guides administrators in establishing objectives for learning and measurable benchmarks
  • Plans for and administers instructional initiatives that support all students, including English learners, Standard English learners, foster youth, students with disabilities, socioeconomically-disadvantaged students, and gifted and talented education students
  • Works collaboratively with the regional leadership team to ensure a safe and effective learning and school campus environment for all students
  • Performs other duties as assigned
