About The Position

In collaboration with other team members, the Region Credit Manager will manage the entire Customer Credit function within his or her respective Region. This individual will support Region and Branch users regarding customer credit issues and inquiries. Primary/Key Responsibilities Manage the credit review and approval process for a portfolio of customers of a given region. Directs the collection process for all XTRA Lease branches within a given region. Coordinate with the company’s in-house legal department and outside attorneys to compile necessary documents and case materials for accounts placed with collection agencies or outside law firms for collection litigation. Directs the collection of customer insurance certificates at the branch locations and provides guidance on completeness and accuracy of insurance certificates and adherence to XTRA Lease policies and procedures. Prepares written and oral reports on the status of accounts. As Region Credit Manager, you will: Approve or deny extension of credit to potential customers based on credit investigations, business information and available security. The primary tool for customer credit evaluation is the Cortera eCredit platform, an automated credit scoring and monitoring tool. Verify security information as needed. Establish, change and maintain credit limits (e.g. number of trailers allowed to lease) for individual customers, while determining amount and type of security necessary to protect XTRA Lease. Credit for National Accounts presented to and approved by Chief Financial Officer and/or Director Customer Financial Services. Perform various types of financial analysis, such as review of customer financial statements, payment history, interviews, on-site visits, review of Cortera reports, contacting banks and other references, company websites and financial websites (e.g., EDGAR, SEC) on new and existing accounts. Discuss high-risk sales opportunities with region management to evaluate maximum sales effort while protecting company profits. Assist and oversee the collections for all XTRA Lease branches in a region. Assist XTRA Lease branches in collecting delinquent accounts by contacting customers or other parties directly. Review and direct collection activities for account receivables such that past due accounts (e.g., 30 days or greater) are consistently held at or below the company standard. Discuss the status of a customer’s account with sales personnel, Regional Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Director Customer Financial Services. Visit customers to establish personal and effective working relationships on an on-going basis. Authorize credit override requests and monitors all credit overrides throughout a given region to ensure that they are at a necessary limit to protect the company. Review and manages customer insurance status reports and directs necessary corrective actions. Manage self-insurance requirements for selected customer accounts reviews and approves deductible levels above specified limits. Monitor all language of the lease to ensure that all necessary language is needed that would protect the company. Prepare month-end and quarter-end reports regarding customer accounts. This information is forwarded to Region Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Director Customer Financial Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related field of study with five years or greater experience in credit and collections roles.
  • Ability to travel for branch and customer visits
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and recommend possible solutions
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong organization skills; including the ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a decentralized, multi-location business operation with management responsibility for credit and collection activities.
  • Experience working in the leasing industry and/or the transportation industry is a plus.
