Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
Five (5) years of experience in a steel scrap purchasing-related occupation in the steel manufacturing industry performing each of the following: managing steel scrap purchasing orders in the United States and Mexico; managing steel scrap vendors and customs clearances between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada; overseeing the steel scrap melting process for each grade and understanding their performance in the furnace; classifying and transforming steel scrap at yards; High analysis capabilities using databases, Power BI, pivot tables, and macros; and developing and conducting project proposals to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Coordinate steel scrap acquisitions and manage trading for the plants, working collaboratively with the team to strengthen relationships with existing suppliers.
Reduce the volume sourced from large traders while increasing the share from smaller suppliers.
Optimize the purchase of unprocessed materials.
Assure, increase, or develop new sources of alternative materials (e.g., skull skimmers and pig iron turnings).
Develop the regional market by making swift, strategic decisions in response to market changes.
Trade high-quality scrap by identifying new suppliers and attracting medium-sized suppliers to deliver directly to the company.
Establish and adhere to new criteria for selecting scrap suppliers.
Manage processing and logistic operations, ensuring a consistent supply to the plant.
Facilitate continuous improvement in the management of their area of expertise, while fostering a safe work environment.
Ensure that suppliers know the company’s policies for critical services.
