About The Position
The Refugee Case Manager plays a crucial role in assisting newly arrived refugee families in adapting to life in the United States. This full-time, salaried position is centered around promoting self-sufficiency and integration into the community. The Case Manager is responsible for coordinating housing arrangements and setting up apartments with necessary furniture and household items. In addition to these responsibilities, the Case Manager will respond to emergency requests for assistance, coordinating with emergency departments as needed. This role also involves providing mediation and advocacy for families in their interactions with outside agencies. The Refugee Case Manager is accountable to the Reception and Placement Program Manager and is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism while representing the Catherine McAuley Center (CMC). The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or Political Science, along with six to twelve months of experience providing social services to refugees or immigrants. Knowledge of local resources and programs available in Linn County and surrounding areas is essential. The Case Manager must possess a valid driver's license and have personal transportation. Confidentiality is paramount, and the individual must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to work effectively as part of a team. The role requires flexibility, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to handle stress and new or undefined situations. The Case Manager will also need to be proficient in computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and databases, and be willing to learn new software and systems as necessary.
