About The Position

The Process Safety Management (PSM) Supervisor is responsible for leading and maintaining the facility’s PSM and Risk Management Plan (RMP) programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company standards. This role provides technical oversight of ammonia refrigeration and plant utility systems, while driving a strong safety culture and continuous improvement across the operation. The PSM Supervisor partners with Safety, Maintenance, and Operations teams to develop and implement process safety programs, manage regulatory requirements, support audits, and ensure proper training for employees and contractors. This position also plays a key role in risk management, incident prevention, and ensuring the safe, reliable operation of critical plant systems. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 18 TO WORK AT TRIUMPH FOODS. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems required.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Supervisory experience with the ability to lead teams and delegate effectively.
  • Strong understanding of PSM, OSHA, EPA, USDA, and sanitation standards.
  • Experience working with industrial refrigeration and plant utility systems, including ammonia refrigeration, boilers/steam systems, compressed air, HVAC, and electrical distribution.
  • Ability to safely operate, maintain, and troubleshoot plant utility systems and restore operations following outages.
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and standard business software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to document work activities, maintain equipment history, and track performance metrics.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and be on-call as needed.
  • Active participation in the Hazardous Chemical Response Team.
  • Must obtain an maintain Ammonia Operator certifications (OP1, OP2, OP3/Tech 1) as required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information and document processes.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate, resolve conflicts, and maintain professionalism.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence and communicate effectively with regulatory agencies, management, and plant personnel.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety procedures, and manuals.

  • May be required to be clean-shaven if trained in the use of and required to use a respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner of the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plant (RMP) programs, ensuring full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company standards.
  • Act as the liaison between Safety, Refrigeration, and Maintenance teams to ensure alignment and consistency in PSM-related activities.
  • Lead, supervise, and support refrigeration and utility personnel, including assigning work, planning schedules, and ensuring efficient plant operations.
  • Oversee contractor activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, training requirements, and site procedures.
  • Manage and maintain PSM/RMP programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and company requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and programs related to process safety and ammonia refrigeration systems.
  • Ensure all operating procedures, SOPs, P&IDs, and LOTO procedures are accurate, current, and recertified annually.
  • Coordinate and participate in key PSM elements, including Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Mechanical Integrity (MI), and compliance audits; ensure timely completion of all findings.
  • Support and coordinate OSHA/EPA inspections and audits, including timely resolution of findings and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all employees, contractors, and HAZMAT team members are properly trained and that training is documented in accordance with regulatory and site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain PSM documentation systems, including electronic platforms, compliance records, and training matrices.
  • Track and report process safety metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented.
  • Provide technical direction for refrigeration operations, maintenance, and capital projects to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance programs align with manufacturer and IIAR recommendations and are executed as scheduled.
  • Maintain chemical safety and hazard communication programs, including SDS management, chemical approvals, and annual chemical inventory.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and support compliance-related reporting and communication.
  • Promote a strong process safety culture through leadership, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide backup support for refrigeration supervisory roles as needed.
