About The Position

Lincoln Tech's WorkforceLinc Division, in partnership with Container Maintenance Corporation (CMC), is seeking an experienced refrigerated container and reefer unit technician to transition into an Instructor role. This position is focused on imparting knowledge to ensure safety and operational efficiency of equipment, by working directly with students and systems to translate real-world experience into practical capabilities. The role is based in Charleston, SC, and requires up to 50% regional travel to various training locations, operating on a Monday-Friday schedule. It emphasizes hands-on leadership and practical training, moving beyond theoretical classroom instruction, with the goal of significantly contributing to the development of the future workforce.

Requirements

  • Professional experience with transport or commercial refrigeration
  • Strong working knowledge of refrigeration systems and controls
  • Comfort with basic electrical troubleshooting
  • Ability to explain why a fix matters—not just how to do it
  • Willingness to mentor and set a strong example
  • No teaching background required experience and credibility matter most
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% (Monday–Friday)
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card
  • EPA 608 certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience across both containers and chassis
  • Diesel-powered reefer systems
  • Generator experience
  • Welding experience
  • Familiarity with IICL and/or FMCSA standards

Responsibilities

  • Teach hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of refrigerated containers and transport refrigeration systems
  • Demonstrate real-world diagnostics, safe work practices, and best-in-field standards
  • Train students on systems including: Compressors, condensers, evaporators, and refrigerant cycle
  • Train students on systems including: Refrigeration controls and basic electrical diagnostics
  • Train students on systems including: Diesel-powered generator systems
  • Coach students through live tasks and skill development
  • Track progress and provide clear, practical feedback
  • Help keep labs and equipment safe, organized, and industry-ready
