About The Position

The Trainer – Referrals is responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously improving education and training programs related to outpatient referrals and scheduling workflows across the organization. This role ensures new employees are effectively onboarded and that existing team members receive ongoing training to maintain high-quality, compliant, and efficient referral processes. The Trainer serves as a subject-matter expert on referral operations, develops and maintains standardized training curricula, and partners with operational leaders to identify performance gaps and opportunities for process improvement.

Requirements

  • 1 year or more physician practice experience with referral processing, appointment scheduling, patient registration, or related area.
  • High School Diploma
  • Obtain Baptist OneCare Credentialed Trainer (EPIC - Cadence) certification within a year of employment.
  • Possess basic computer skills, basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective training skills is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required with the ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with individuals from various levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years or more physician practice experience with referral processing, appointment scheduling, patient registration, or related area.
  • Associate degree or equivalent in healthcare business related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Baptist OneCare Credentialed Trainer (EPIC - Cadence)
  • Proficient in computer skills, Microsoft Word and Excel, and knowledgeable in adult learning.
  • Previous teaching or training experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive training sessions for new hires, including classroom, virtual, and one-on-one instruction focused on outpatient referrals, scheduling standards, technology platforms, and operational workflows
  • Facilitates ongoing education for current staff, ensuring knowledge of updated processes, technology enhancements, and regulatory or organizational changes.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains standardized training curricula, including lesson plans, job aids, competency assessments, and procedural documentation.
  • Ensures all training materials are current, accurate, and aligned with organizational policies, compliance standards, and referral workflow requirements.
  • Collaborates with operational leaders, quality teams, and subject-matter experts to validate workflow accuracy and incorporate best practices into training content.
  • Implements continuous improvement strategies to enhance curriculum effectiveness and learner performance outcomes.
  • Identifies training-related performance trends and operational gaps, recommending targeted interventions, workflow enhancements, or supplemental training.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to support consistency and reliability of the referral experience across departments.
  • Maintains accurate training records, attendance logs, competency results, and program evaluation metrics.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
