About The Position

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A REFERRAL REGISTERED NURSE (RN)! The Schedule i s Monday and Friday 7AM to 7PM with opportunity for additional shifts as needed The Referral RN is a registered nurse who assesses and evaluates patients' charts who are being considered for admission to the hospital, takes physician orders, and reviews medication reconciliation with the physician and/or Assessment RN following the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. Must have good clinical skills and be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited RN program
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric facility is preferred.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Georgia State Board of Nursing.
  • Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR certification and successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in re-straining procedures. Must have a working knowledge of the DSM-V, Mental Status Exam, and the Addiction and Recovery field.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing Medical charts from referring hospitals when received via fax. Accepting patients for the hospital based on criteria, capacity, and capability of RIS.
  • Responsible for working with children, adolescents, adults, and senior populations. Must be familiar with common diagnoses with these population groups and familiar with specific assessment and interviewing skills for each population group.
  • Call physician for admission and medication orders. Collaborate with the Assessment RN for Medication Reconciliation verification provided by patient/family/pharmacy.
  • Report any signs or symptoms of infection, illness, or medical instability to the physician after assessment.
