About The Position

As a Referral Assessor, you will play a vital role in safeguarding vulnerable adults and children. You will review all vulnerability referrals made to the police, assess risk, and evaluate the needs of those referred. This includes researching police systems to gather all known information and making informed decisions on appropriate referral pathways and support networks to ensure risk is managed effectively.

Requirements

  • Training in Management of Police Information (MOPI) or “Managing Information.”
  • Understanding of statutory guidance: Working Together to Safeguard Children and Vulnerable Adults (2018).
  • Familiarity with Information Sharing Agreements (ISA) between police and partner agencies.
  • Knowledge of child protection, vulnerable adult, and domestic abuse processes and best practice.
  • Experience in: Managing electronic VPRFs via Corvus.
  • Using systems such as NICHE, PNC, PND, CORVUS, STORM.
  • Multi-agency information sharing and safeguarding processes.
  • Risk assessment tools (e.g., MERIT, DASH, Levels of Need).
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn new IT systems.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workloads, and thrive in a high-demand environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience of assessing vulnerability using common risk assessment tools.
  • Familiarity with partner agency systems (e.g., Liquid Logic).

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess vulnerability referrals from internal and external sources.
  • Research police systems to collate relevant information.
  • Make informed decisions on referral pathways and safeguarding measures.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection legislation and information-sharing frameworks.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to manage risk and safeguard individuals.
