The Reentry Mentor works with reentry residents to help them (1) identify and reduce risk factors for re-incarceration, (2) engage in pro-social activities that foster successful re-integration into community life, and (3) be accountable to civic and criminal justice authorities as may be required as condition of their release (4) access services and programs that address training, employment, healthcare, and other social determinants of health. What You'll Do: Meet with mentees assigned on a regularly scheduled basis and occasionally more when need arises. Engage in open, honest dialogue to balance active, respectful listening with information about alternative perspectives/choices. Provide connections to healthy pro-social community activities, people, and resources. Maintain interpersonal boundaries that establish clarity about role as a mentor and ensure safety for all parties involved. Uphold and practice the program philosophy and principles as imparted thru Mentor training.
