Requirements

  • Post high school coursework or training in social/behavioral sciences, counseling, business, public administration, education, marketing or a related field; or experience in client development and case management including interviewing, research and direct customer service.
  • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in social/behavioral sciences, business or public administration, education, or related field; experience in public/human services gathering and providing information, interviewing, and assessing client needs.
  • Bilingual language (i.e. Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, etc.) desired but not required.
  • Knowledge of: State and federal employment security laws; equal opportunity laws; vocational counseling or career guidance; case management interviewing procedures and techniques; methods for showing and promoting agency services; typical office computer systems; Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • Skill in: public speaking or communicating with an audience; presenting information clearly using various media in front of an audience; assessing customer needs; database entry.
  • Ability to: plan and organize work; communicate to disseminate information to a diverse group of people; actively listen to others; follow instructions; interact with clients, employers and the public; administer tests and measurements; maintain accurate documentation; conduct evaluations; create presentations; learn and apply agency rules, policies and procedures; adapt to changing business trends and needs; establish and maintain relationships; maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform case management of clients; research and recommend clients for intensive and various training service including Re-employment.
  • Screen applicants for eligibility for partner programs utilizing vocational guidance tools.
  • Assist individuals with job search/activities for employers and applicants including registration, job referrals and job development.
  • Administer assessment instruments (tests, surveys, etc.) and other planning tools; interpret results and counsel clients.
  • Attend group and individual trainings to learn and improve at the job.
  • Interpret and apply federal legislation to state and local workforce development programs.
  • Receive and verify job orders from employers and enter information into various computer programs as needed.
  • Coordinate with local training providers to enroll participants in training and coordinate career, training, and supportive services for the participants.
  • Coordinate services with local community development entities to promote community growth.
  • Utilize various means of technology to provide needed data.
  • Market Career Center services to the community and employers.
  • Advocate as business liaison to oversee One Stop Center marketing; coordinate visits, offer special products and market services to area business community.
  • Plan, implement and present workshops relevant to business and job seeker needs; plan and present presentations at schools, job fairs etc. and develop informational presentations to promote re-employment services.
  • Perform data entry and retrieval activities for various programs as necessary.
  • Follow-up through phone, text, and email with case load monthly to monitor progress and ensure needs are met.
