Requirements

Excellent communication; via phone, email, and in person.
Should be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Skilled in arts and crafts.
Must be flexible to work in other locations if needed.
Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field, or combination of experience and education required.
Minimum two years’ experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services to a frail or elderly population within the past 5 years.
Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) or Activity Director Certification required.
Current CPR and First Aid certifications required.
Valid Florida Drivers’ License with good record
Active BLS for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross; Current employees must obtain by January 1, 2025.
Certification of completion of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Training through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the coordination and planning of therapeutic and recreational activities for the participants of the program.
Conduct an initial assessment and scheduled reassessment of all participants.
Develop specific therapeutic programs to include recreational and social activities.
Record, sign and date progress reports in the participant’s medical record.
Develop, implement and supervise the Activity Program.
Plan and provide both group and individual activities.
Participate in Interdisciplinary Conferences, daily meetings and family conferences.
Serve as a resource to staff and coordinate volunteer activities at the center.
Document in participant medical record, including Plan of Care.
