Requirements

  • Excellent communication; via phone, email, and in person.
  • Should be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Skilled in arts and crafts.
  • Must be flexible to work in other locations if needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field, or combination of experience and education required.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services to a frail or elderly population within the past 5 years.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) or Activity Director Certification required.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications required.
  • Valid Florida Drivers’ License with good record
  • Active BLS for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross; Current employees must obtain by January 1, 2025.
  • Certification of completion of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Training through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.

  • Clear level 2 background check
  • This position requires consent to drug and/or alcohol testing after a conditional offer of employment is made, as well as on-going compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the coordination and planning of therapeutic and recreational activities for the participants of the program.
  • Conduct an initial assessment and scheduled reassessment of all participants.
  • Develop specific therapeutic programs to include recreational and social activities.
  • Record, sign and date progress reports in the participant’s medical record.
  • Develop, implement and supervise the Activity Program.
  • Plan and provide both group and individual activities.
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Conferences, daily meetings and family conferences.
  • Serve as a resource to staff and coordinate volunteer activities at the center.
  • Document in participant medical record, including Plan of Care.
