At our PACE Center, life enrichment isn’t just a program but rather it’s the heartbeat of our community. We are seeking an energetic and caring professional who is passionate about working with older adults and dedicated to creating engaging, memorable, and purpose-filled experiences for our participants every single day. Why This Role Matters As a Life Enrichment Coordinator, you’ll help seniors stay connected, active, and joyful. You’ll design and lead creative activities that spark engagement, build relationships, and enhance quality of life, especially for individuals living with dementia or complex health needs. You’ll play a vital role on an interdisciplinary care team, ensuring each participant’s interests, abilities, and preferences are celebrated and reflected in meaningful programming.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field preferred
  • Licensed/Certified Recreational Therapist or Director of Activities (North Carolina)
  • Education or training in geriatrics and dementia care strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in recreational or social programming for older or frail adults
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to meet medical clearance and immunization requirements

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead fun, innovative, and individualized activities that support cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being
  • Create monthly activity calendars full of variety, excitement, and purpose
  • Facilitate group activities, one-on-one programming, and community outings
  • Plan special events, celebrations, and off-site excursions
  • Develop and manage dementia-specific programming, including sensory-based and small-group activities
  • Conduct recreational assessments and reassessments and contribute to individual care plans
  • Collaborate closely with nurses, social workers, therapists, and other care team members
  • Train and support staff involved in life enrichment and dementia programming
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participant records
  • Foster a welcoming, upbeat, and inclusive environment where participants feel valued and supported
