About The Position

Work weekends and Holidays Bannack State Park is situated in a beautiful canyon on the banks of Grasshopper Creek, 25 miles from Dillon, MT in the southwest corner of the state. Dillon is the service center for the region with about 5,000 residents, the University of Montana Western, public schools, a hospital, grocery stores, and a variety of other services. Recreational opportunities abound, including hiking, boating, and fly fishing. Job Duties: The duties of the Recreation Technician are approximately 60%25 customer service (visitor center, tours, hikes) and 40%25 light maintenance. The position will operate the visitor center which requires strong customer service skills, the ability to operate a computer-based cash register, assist with the campground reservation system, assist with interpretive/educational programs, work special events, patrol park grounds to encourage rule compliance, and identify potential hazards or maintenance needs. Maintenance duties will include groundskeeping, janitorial services, trail maintenance, minor repairs, and other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): Graduation from high school or equivalent education. One year of college or vocational training experience in park and recreation management, interpretive visitor center, or closely related setting is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required at time of application: General knowledge of basic customer service and safe work habits.
