Recreation Specialist

About The Position

Assist in the development of a multicultural and multiâsensory recreational program, including Special Physical Education, Art, Music, and other therapeutic or leisure activities. Collaborate with supervisors and childcare workers to implement planned recreational activities for all residents, both onâgrounds and offâgrounds. Complete all required documentation for recreation activities on a daily basis, as well as summaries and reports for weekly Family Team Conferences. Assist with the planning and implementation of campus celebrations and special events. Ensure that all rules, regulations, and safety procedures are followed and enforced at all times. Work directly with residents after school, on weekends, and during school vacations, with scheduling flexibility based on the needs of the RTC. Perform additional duties as assigned to support program operations.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in education, Special Education, Recreation, Physical Education, or Creative Arts Therapies
Experience working with individuals with MR/DD populations
Strong spelling, grammar, and written communication skills
Computer literate with the ability to complete electronic documentation
Valid and clean New York State Driver’s License
