About The Position

As a Recreation Specialist for HELP USA's new Brooklyn, New York family shelter, you will work under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator and with school-age children living in our shelter, and lead them in developmentally appropriate activities. You’ll also participate in community outreach to obtain in-kind donations, service linkages, and other resources for the children in our program. Some of the activities you’ll lead are: STEM projects. Arts and Crafts. Computer literacy. H homework help and education support. Development of life skills.

Requirements

• They are creative, responsible, patient, kind, and caring.
• Enjoy working with children.
• Have strong organizational and time management skills.
• Have a valid US driver’s license.
• Have an Associate’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all participants in recreational activities.
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
